it's been a while

June certainly presented some ups and downs for me. Overall I decided that I needed a bit of a blogging break. I am at a point now where I feel refreshed and ready to start up again.
One of the major ups of June was finishing my final semester of school. I am so excited to be finished with that chapter and move on to the next one. My mom found this adorable bicycle bell and sent it to me as a graduation gift. It is so suiting, my bike has really been my car for the past three years here in Eindhoven. It has gotten me to school on time rain or shine day in and day out. Not to mention that it carries just about anything I require (including my oversized prototypes and a pile of 2x4's)
Who needs a car really anyways?
I took the new bell out for a spin yesterday and met up with some friends for celebration drinks.

I've been writing lists and making plans for the coming weeks, so I will have lots of fun activities to share in the near future :)

I feel so grateful

It was my 25th Birthday on May 28th and I feel so grateful to my wonderful friends and family for their endless support, love and laughter. I feel so fortunate and I want to share my gratitude.
Also a thank you to all you readers, thank you for taking the time to follow my blog and keep in touch now and then via your comments and emails. It really means so much to me when I hear from you. I have already learned so much about myself from blogging and I look forward to continue to develop myself and my blog as time goes on. Also I look forward to learn more about my fellow bloggers, I promise to continue to share updates and pretty things and to learn from you and ultimately continue to inspire.

graduation project

I am happy to state that I am approaching the end of my final semester as a bachelor student. I would like to share a few snap shots and a short film about this final project that I have been keeping busy with the past weeks. I am so excited and hopeful for the future... before that happens tho I have some loose ends to tie up, a report to finish etc. etc. (I don't want to get too ahead of myself here)
But overall, my attitude these days is that of relish.

a bike trip in polaroids

I had such a good time this past weekend touring around the North of Holland. We stopped a few times along the way to snap the above polaroids. The purpose of the trip was to find the tulip fields, but unfortunately we were a bit late in the season to see them in full bloom. Regardless it was a lovely weekend and I am grateful that we were able to finally make it happen.

planting a tulip

Yes, I know tulips are meant to be planted in late autumn in order to pop up in time for spring but I came across this little bulb on the weekend so I decided to plant it and see if it grows. Here's what I did:
1. find an old tin box (any container will do) I found this one at the second hand shop
2. poke some holes in the bottom to allow for water drainage
3. place the bulb roots downward and lightly pack soil around it leaving the top sticking out
4. water and place outside
It was a beautifully sunny day today (finally, it has been a long awaited spring over here in The Netherlands) perfect for a little bit of gardening. Much more to come!

mother's day

This afternoon I went to make a 'Yogi Tea' - you know the brand of tea the has a sweet little message on each tea bag. Well when I opened this bag the message was 'a mother is as rich as a river'. I found it very suiting considering it's mothers day and all. So, to all you mothers out there I wish you a happy mothers day. And to my own mother, I'm missing you from across the ocean, I send you my love and positive energy today and always.

a spotted deer

So, last week flew by for me! I've been keeping busy working on my final bachelor project, I only have about a month to go :) For those of you who are curious about what I've been up to with that, I will be sharing some photos of the project soon. I'm doing a jewellery piece and it's starting to come together nicely.
I was in Delft yesterday working in my supervisor's studio and on the train ride back I spotted this sweet deer in the field and I felt inspired to make a painting of her.
I'm off to the market now, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
